5 ways to look and feel your best at any age

Aging is a natural process that happens to everyone and we need to start embracing it! Getting older does not mean that we can’t look and feel our best. Whether you are in your tumultuous twenties, swinging sixties, or any other decade of your life, making small changes and adopting new habits may be the secret to feeling better than ever.

Sure, aging has its downsides and anyone with unexplained aches and pains will vouch for that but think of all the amazing things that simply come with getting older: wisdom, resources, confidence, and stability are the first things that come to mind. They say age is just a number but we’d like to think that it’s more of a state of mind, so buckle up and let’s dive into some ways that will help us look and feel great...at any age!

Objects in motion, stay in motion

The laws of inertia don’t stop for us, in fact, remembering this simple law may help motivate you to exercise. The idea behind this reminder is that if we stay active now, it will help our bodies to remain active, even as we age. Exercise is also just good for you in general. Studies have shown that regular exercise leads to a myriad of beneficial effects for your physical and mental health. In fact, daily physical activity can help improve sleep, mood, sexual health, heart health, and can even help prevent obesity. But listen, we completely understand if you aren’t a “gym person,”...if this sounds like you, try a bike ride, a scenic hike, or even a dance class. Let’s release those endorphins!

Keeping your brain stimulated

This one might seem simple enough but it’s important to be mindful of your brain health. Reading, writing, puzzles, and art can all be fun and interesting ways to stimulate your mind. Engaging in these activities will not only help your mind feeling sharp but think of that sense of accomplishment you will feel as you finally finish the book you’ve been wanting to read. We don’t feel our best when we are experiencing brain fog, forgetfulness, or inattentiveness so try stimulating your mind with these activities...it’s a no-brainer!

Stay hydrated

We know that drinking water can feel like such a chore sometimes, but it is vital to our overall wellness that we stay hydrated. One of the easiest ways to avoid dehydration is to simply drink plenty of water throughout the day. If you want to feel your best, water is an essential element in achieving that goal. Lack of water can lead to low energy, fatigue, headaches, and dry mouth...and no one wants that! If you want to trick your mind and taste buds into drinking water, try adding flavored collagen for added benefits and a delicious twist! One of our favorite flavors is Lemon + Lime flavored Collagen Hydrolysate

Eat healthier

Incorporating nutrient-dense foods into your diet can be beneficial to the way you look and feel. It may not be as simple as eating an apple a day, but incorporating certain food groups and spices can actually help with cognitive function and mood, which will help us to feel better overall. Also, it’s important to not only satisfy our taste buds but to feed our body the nutrients that it craves. Think of the difference in how you feel after a heavy meal of processed food and refined sugars compared to how you feel after eating a balanced meal full of nutrients. Let’s not forget that a well-balanced diet may also help to support a healthy weight. If you find it difficult to eat nutrient-dense foods, try incorporating supplements that aim to improve your wellness.

Self-care

One of the best ways to feel your best is to listen to your body and treat it right. Self-care doesn’t always have to be massages, facials, and shopping. It definitely can be those things, but self-care also looks like setting healthy boundaries, having some alone time, meditation, or literally doing anything that brings you joy. When you treat yourself with care, you might start to notice a difference when it comes to the way you feel about yourself. Maybe you feel more confident or maybe you just enjoy your own company, either way, self-care should be a priority at any age.

Even if you incorporate all of these tips, we can never stop the natural aging process and that’s okay! Your age should never be a reflection of how you feel about yourself. So let’s start making small changes today so we can continue to look and feel our best at any age!
